Cyberpunk 2077 Backpack

SupeRanked 013 Cyberpunk 2077 Backpack - Front

We’ve asked a fashion designer based in Indonesia to create a concept for a backpack inspired by our beloved Cyberpunk 2077. Most of us have already surpassed 100 hours of gameplay, and we wanted to celebrate this achievement in our own way: by sketching a prototype, with a special twist… a hybrid design, something in between a backpack and a bulletproof vest. Here’s the output.

Overview

Probably the most anticipated release of 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that took years of work and millions of Euros for CD Projekt Red to get onto shelves. And, if you’ve played the game on a good PC or on Stadia, then you’ve probably had a pretty sweet time. Like us, we just love it!

Most of you know the story by now… Anyway, let’s recap briefly. As a player, you experience the main storyline through a genderfluid avatar named V. The game’s namesake stems from a science fiction genre that at its core presents a dystopian hyper-capitalist society intended as a reflective critique of contemporary life. Think Philip K. Dick’s work.

The game takes place in Night City, a Northern California city-state that has ceded its government to the five largest corporations. V’s apartment consists of a single open area with multiple small rooms plugged into its perimeter, reminiscent of the interiors of Japanese Metabolist architecture mixed with Little China flavors. Behind the doors of V’s apartment, a huge world to explore and lots, lots of weapons and gadgets to loot.

Look, we all know that bugs and technical issues are currently affecting the game. Nonetheless, we must reckon with the huge technical challenge and achievement reached by CD Projekt Red. For those like us who love immersive open-world games, Cyberpunk 2077 is a treat. And given what happened with The Witcher 3, we’re 100% confident that CDPR will pull this off with bugfixes and expansions over time.

Concept

A few weeks ago we started sketching a prototype of a backpack inspired by Cyberpunk 2077 design. Given the amount of action and bullets fired in the game, we wanted to incorporate some design elements related to action games and bulletproof vests into the design of the backpack itself.

That’s why this backpack concept is not a traditional one by any stretch of imagination. It’s thinner and it flows along the body shape almost like a second skin. It’s meant to be light, discrete, and yet with plenty of pockets to store gadgets and items.
